Jonathan Jacobs
Expertise
Dr. Jacobs' research expertise is in the application of proteomic technologies in the study of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems to obtain global quantitative measurements of protein abundance. Specifically, by using high efficiency liquid separations coupled with sensitive mass spectrometry, a more in-depth proteomic characterization of the model system can be obtained. Current applications include clinical proteomics with the study of cirrhosis progression using human liver biopsy samples from hepatitis C virus infected individuals as well as efforts to characterization protein secretion pathways by targeting the extracellular/secreted proteome of multiple human cell lines. In addition to being a Senior Scientist at PNNL, Dr. Jacobs also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
