Environmental Biomarkers
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's staff develop the scientific understanding, tools, and methods for rapid discovery and use of environmental biomarkers as predictive, early indicators of change or stress in humans and ecological systems.
Our methods have produced the Integrated Biomarker Approach (IBA), resulting in early detection and a more complete understanding of contaminant, biological, or nanoparticle threats to humans and ecosystems. Results from our research support decisions in the management of human and environmental health risk.
Current areas of research include safe nanomaterials and environmental sustainability.
